The Kleistee is an area where all the old landscape features can still be seen: Haaygemeten, so rough land, a remnant of a schurveling, actually the only one that remains visible in the Ouddorp landscape, and hays, sand embankments around the fields. It is best to follow the route, which is indicated by posts with colored heads. Excursions to the Kleistee are organized regularly. An expert nature guide also tells about the special flora and fauna. On the northeast side are mud flats, salt marshes and creeks where salt-loving plants such as sea lavender and real spoon leaf grow. Godwit, avocet and redshank breed here.
